Vintage in the home

Greg and I are currently in the exciting and terrifying process of buying a house. Despite the fact that our loan hasn’t even been approved yet, I’m already browsing the Internet for home inspiration.

1. Wallpaper walls // Anthro

2. Drill holes in the wall to hang pictures // Purl Bee

A garden that I may or may not keep alive // garden rooms

An outdoor setting that I love (without fear of moving into a house that doesn’t have a backyard) // jill thomas

Unfortunately, the cost of a mortgage is going to eat in to a lot of our decorating money, but I think if I keep my eyes peeled, I’ll be able to fulfil a few of my wishes.

Mix ‘n Match Kitchen

I’ve always loved mismatched everything and one of my favourite parts of op shopping is finding bits and pieces and making them into an outfit or styling my home. Lately I’ve been browsing Pinterest for some mix matched inspiration.

I think I’m going to start focusing on starting up a collection of amazing mismatched crockery. I love the mix of bright colours and designs and who knows, maybe it’ll make me want to have a dinner party or something equally as grown up. Hunting down teacups for wedding centrepieces has been fun and I’m ready to branch out with plates and glasses and cookware; so much! I even went as far as getting photos of all my opshopped kitchen finds so far – I’ll be posting them all next week.

Pinterest

A while ago I joined Pinterest aka the latest and greatest. While I never got into Tumblr like everyone else, I love Pinterest because I can categorise everything – it makes it so much easier when I’m looking back for inspiration. Plus it really emphasises crediting the original photographer/store/whatever so I can stop being frustrated about finding a picture of an amazing dress and having to trawl the internet to figure out how to buy it. It’s especially useful for saving wedding pictures to really make me realise and focus on what I want for my upcoming wedding.
